Rescue workers pulled a newborn baby alive from the rubble of a collapsed building in the coastal city of La Guaira before reuniting the infant with family members. The baby’s mother was also rescued alive shortly afterwards as emergency crews continued searching for thousands of people still trapped beneath collapsed buildings.

Videos shared on social media showed emergency responders carefully lifting the infant from the debris of a destroyed building in La Guaira. The rescuers then carried the baby to a man believed to be the child’s father.
According to reports, rescue teams later located the baby’s mother alive beneath the rubble and safely pulled her to the surface.
The emotional rescue has become one of the most hopeful moments since the devastating earthquakes struck Venezuela earlier this week.

Officials said the disaster has now claimed 1,430 lives, while more than 3,200 people have suffered injuries.
The two powerful earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5, struck within seconds of each other, making the second quake one of the strongest recorded in Venezuela in the past century.
The United Nations estimates that around 50,000 people remain missing, while thousands of homes and buildings have collapsed across several regions.

La Guaira, located along Venezuela’s northern coast near Caracas, has suffered extensive destruction.
Entire neighbourhoods have been reduced to piles of concrete, twisted steel and broken walls. Rescue teams continue working around the clock, using drones, search equipment, bare hands and shovels to locate survivors trapped beneath the debris.
International rescue specialists from Mexico, Spain, the United States and the United Kingdom have joined Venezuelan emergency crews to strengthen search operations.
Venezuela Earthquake: Families Continue Desperate Search for Missing Loved Ones
Across the disaster zone, families continue searching for relatives while hoping rescuers will find more survivors.
One of them is Jesús Suárez, who travelled nearly 200 kilometres after losing contact with his son, Jean Suárez.
Speaking near the remains of a collapsed building, he said, “There’s no information at all. People who know him say they didn’t see him come out or anything.”
Pointing toward the debris, he added, “I believe he might be in there.”
Suárez also described the difficult conditions facing rescue workers.
“It’s impossible to rescue him… There is no sophisticated equipment here. A human being alone cannot do it – it’s too dangerous.”
Venezuela Earthquake: Rescue Operations Continue Against Time
The Venezuelan government has distributed food, drinking water and emergency supplies to survivors while expanding rescue efforts across the hardest-hit regions.
Interim President Delcy Rodríguez has said authorities are carrying out a large-scale emergency response during what she described as the critical phase of locating survivors.
As rescue teams continue searching through the rubble, the successful rescue of the newborn baby and the child’s mother has become a powerful symbol of hope for thousands of families still waiting for news of their loved ones.
