Nancy Guthrie Case Latest News: The ongoing investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance took a murky turn recently after a new ransom note was sent to entertainment outlet TMZ. Now, the Pima County Sheriff Department and FBI profiler have expressed their opinions about the note.

Nancy Guthrie Case Latest News: Pima County Sheriff Department’s Response

This morning, Chris Nanos from the Pima County Sheriff Department appeared on a podcast and reacted with skepticism to the new ransom note, which claimed to have possession of a video featuring Nancy with ‘the main guy’. 

“It’s a shame that that happens, but I think we’re looking at another one of those today with what’s been reported, but we’ll let the FBI do their work”, he said. The Pima County Sheriff Department is jointly investigating the case, which was upgraded from a missing persons case to a homicide case, with the FBI.

Nancy Guthrie Case Latest News: FBI Profiler’s Response 

FBI profiler James Fitzgerald recently spoke to journalist Brian Entin about the new ransom note and seemed mostly dismissive. “This guy, I don’t think he’s legit. I’m gonna say that upfront”, he commented.

Fitzgerald then added that “I’m not sure any communication – and people are calling them notes, letters, whatever, posts, but I’m just going to call them communications, however they showed up – I don’t think any of them are authentic. And that includes this most recent one”.   

What Did the New Ransom Note Claim? 

The new ransom note which was sent to entertainment outlet TMZ made multiple claims. According to the note, two people were involved in the abduction of Nancy Guthrie and the sender claimed to have possession of a video featuring her with ‘the main guy’.

“I have a phone stashed in a secure location guaranteeing both the information it stores and the safety of the phone. What it contains is my definition of delivering them on a silver platter, a short video of the main guy with Nancy the day that was probably her last, pictures of both involved, names and addresses and age”, one prominent section of the note read. 

The sender also denied any involvement with the anonymous tip about Nancy’s potential grave in Northern Mexico.  “I am not the idiot who recently called in a tip about her burial site in Mexico”. TMZ promptly forwarded the note to the FBI.

Nancy Guthrie Case Latest News: All the Evidence So Far 

So far, the following evidence has been uncovered in Nancy Guthrie’s case: 

  • The blood samples found on her porch and the surrounding street, that lead to her Catalina Hills home. 
  • Footage from the multiple surveillance videos that the Pima County Sheriff Department found in the neighbourhood. Police also recovered surveillance footage from some places near the 84 year old woman’s home. 
  • Data from a mobile app connected to Nancy’s pacemaker. The FBI noted that data was recorded till 2: 28 AM and then abruptly stopped. 
  • A single strand of hair that was recovered from her home.
  • Signs of forced entry into her home.    
  • Human remains recovered near Nancy Guthrie’s home. 
  • Doorbell video footage from her home, which showed a masked man with a black backpack tampering with her claim. Authorities are actively searching for this man, who is either 5’9″ or 5’10” tall and has a medium build.

Nancy Guthrie Case: Who are the Suspects? 

There are no official suspects in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, as per the latest developments. While many suspected that local fugitive Coral Michelle Smith could be a suspect, her involvement was formally ruled out. 

The cops are also looking for an unidentified masked man, called the ‘porch guy’ who was caught tampering with Nancy Guthrie’s doorbell camera. He was carrying a backpack and allegedly tried to obscure the doorbell camera with his gloved hand and some flowers from Nancy’s garden.

Nancy Guthrie Case Investigation Update: FBI Probing New Ransom Note 

The FBI is currently probing the new ransom note and comparing it to the previous ransom notes. While efforts to trace the IP address of the email are underway. The agency is also using advanced forensic tools and blockchain tracking to explore all potential leads.
