US-Israel-Iran War Latest News:  Iran’s security situation remained tense on Tuesday after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said six armed fighters were killed during a border operation in northwest Iran, while two IRGC members were shot dead in a separate attack in the country’s western region. Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signaled that progress with the United States would depend on mutual commitments, as Tehran also renewed its push for joint oversight of the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The IRGC said its forces killed six members of an armed group during a clash in the mountainous region between Mahabad and Piranshahr in northwest Iran.

According to the Revolutionary Guards, the group had crossed into the border area intending to carry out what it described as “sabotage and terrorist operations.” The IRGC said the military operation included fire support, resulting in the recovery of four bodies along with weapons and military equipment. The Iranian force did not immediately provide further details about the identity of the armed group or whether there were any casualties among security personnel during the operation.

In a separate incident, the IRGC’s Kermanshah branch said two of its members were killed in an armed attack outside their homes in the western city of Paveh on Monday. The victims were identified as Borhan Krisani and Khaled Khaledinia.

urdish rights organization Hengaw reported that two additional IRGC members were seriously wounded in the attack. The group also said a previously unknown organization calling itself “Khori Hiva” claimed responsibility. According to Hengaw, the group alleged that Khaledinia had participated in the government’s crackdown on the 2022–2023 Woman, Life, Freedom protests in Javanrud. Iranian authorities have not publicly commented on those allegations.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also commented on ongoing diplomatic engagement with the United States, stressing that any agreement would require commitments from both sides.

Writing on X, Pezeshkian said:

“Understanding is a bilateral matter. If the American side adheres to the memorandum of understanding, we will also fulfil our obligations.”

His remarks come amid continued diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions between Tehran and Washington.

Separately, Iran renewed its proposal for joint oversight of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important maritime routes. According to Bloomberg, Tehran has repeatedly advocated jointly managing the waterway with Oman since the conflict that began following the US-Israeli bombardment of Iran in late February.

Iran has also suggested that ships transiting the strait could be required to pay certain fees. The proposal has been opposed by the United States, European countries and most Gulf Arab states. Oman, which maintains close ties with both Washington and Tehran, has reportedly faced pressure from Western governments not to support any toll arrangement. During a visit to France on Monday, Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and French President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz without conditions or restrictions.
