Private Selection’s Chicken Breast Health Alert: This morning, the US Department of Agriculture put out a health alert for Private Selection’s Chicken Breast. This is because it contains an undisclosed egg allergen. 

Private Selection’s Chicken Breast Health Alert: The Details of the Alert

The Food Safety and Inspection Service of the USDA (US Department of Agriculture) recently issued a public health alert over Private Selection’s Honey Dijon Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts.

The product is sold in 21 ounce vacuum packed packages and has an expiry date of today (28 June, 2026).  It also has a lot code of “15326A” and an establishment number of “P-45288B”. 

Private Selection’s Chicken Breast Health Alert: Why Did the Alert Happen? 

The health alert happened because of misbranding. The packages of the Private Selection Honey Dijon Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts contain eggs, but they have not been listed on the alert. Hence, it poses a serious risk to people with egg allergies. 

USDA’s Rules for Undisclosed Ingredients 

The Food Safety and Inspection Service of USDA has strict rules for undisclosed ingredients. Such products are treated as misbranded and become eligible for a public health alert or Class I product recall.

Consumer Advisory: How to Check If Yours is Affected? 

To check if your package of  the Private Selection Honey Dijon Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts is among the affected ones, check the back label of ingredients as well as the lot code. 

In case of a match don’t panic as the return process is extremely hassle free. Just bring the packet to the customer service counter and state why you would like to return (in this case, the presence of the egg allergen). Then, the Kroger or Fred Meyer store will provide you with a full reimbursement.
