Luigi Mangione Case Latest News: Full Statement from Luigi Mangione’s Legal Team

Karen Friedman Agnifilo recently accused the prosecutors of trying to meddle with the case. “This information attributed to ‘anonymous sources’ is part of a troubling, deliberate pattern by prosecutors and law enforcement to prejudice Luigi, manipulate public opinion, and violate his constitutional right to a fair trial and impartial jury”, she said.

She then added that “Every defendant in America is presumed innocent until proven guilty, including Luigi, who, unlike any other defendant, has to fight the same charges twice”.

But Agnifilo refused to address the rumours of the plea deal directly. Her client faces a state murder charge as well as two charges of federal stalking. Previously, Mangione was also facing a federal murder charge which got dismissed by Judge Margaret Garnett in January 2026.

Luigi Mangione Case: What’s the Evidence So Far?

The key evidence in the Luigi Mangione case so far includes:

  • A 3D-printed 9mm handgun. Forensics confirmed that this is the murder weapon.
  • A red journal which included descriptions of his ‘targets’ as well as escape routes.
  • DNA and fingerprints left behind on the scene.
  • 9mm brass shell casings etched with words such as ‘deny’, ‘defend’ and ‘depose’. The casings were recovered outside the Hilton hotel in midtown Manhattan.

It is important to note that multiple key pieces of evidence, such as a loaded gun magazine, Luigi’s cell phone, his passport and his wallet have been disallowed from the state trial.
