Former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander Major General Mohsen Rezaei also warned Washington against launching another military campaign against Iran.
Speaking during an interview with NewsNation, Rezaei said relations between Iran and successive US administrations have remained strained because Washington has failed to recognise Iran’s position on regional security issues.
He also outlined what Tehran believes are the key conditions for improving relations with the United States, including recognition of Iran’s rights under international law, removal of economic sanctions and acknowledgement of Iran’s role in overseeing the Strait of Hormuz.

Rezaei warned that any future military conflict would carry serious consequences for Iran’s adversaries.

Therefore, the American people should know that neither the Iranian nation nor the Iranian government poses any threat to them. However, we will stand firmly against the US military and any aggression by the US government, and we will defend ourselves.”
He further added, “The US government and its officials should understand that the Iranian nation is a great civilisation with a long history and will not be intimidated or driven from the scene by threats. It will defend its rights. Therefore, the US government must reverse the mistaken course it has taken and adopt a new path.”

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its Navy launched strikes on US military positions after American forces carried out airstrikes on Iranian coastal areas.
In an official statement, the IRGC said, “Following the Israeli regime’s violation of the ceasefire in southern Lebanon, the United States, once again breaching its commitments, carried out an airstrike on the coasts of the Islamic Republic of Iran a few hours ago under the pretext of preventing the passage of a vessel that had allegedly attempted to transit the Strait of Hormuz through an unauthorised route.”
The statement added, “In response to this act of aggression, the Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted US military positions in the region.”
Iran also warned that any future attacks would receive a similar or broader military response.
